According to TechCrunch, Wikia Search will launch publicly on Jan 7, 2008. Oh baby, this could be interesting. We are looking at an open source, editable search engine. This reminds me a hilarious short story written by Adam Cadre entitled, Wikipedia Brown and the Case of the Captured Koala. This story is an amazingly accurate portrayal of the frustration that can ensue when a particularly vindictive twat (Mike from Slovenia) decides he wants to rewrite the truth. My favorite part of the story is when villain Bugs Meany, tells Wikipedia Brown to, “Make like Christopher Columbus and die.”(Mig, thanks for the link!)

Incidentally, the University of Michigan’s Onion-like publication Every Three Weekly published a story about Encyclopedia Brown killing Harry Potter. These peer reviewed article anthologies just can’t seem to get a break. Urban Dictionary Brown would never stand for this. That being said, recapturing a “Koala” in Urban Dictionary’s world is much different.
