I just discovered DIYcity, a project where city-wide problems are solved via crowdsourcing. DIYcity is described as “a place where people figure… things out by discussing, then actually building and launching applications that address the problems around them.”

Generally when HR or accounts payable screws up, companies eat the difference; nevertheless, Microsoft just recalled a portion of severance pay from 1400 employees citing overpayment due to an administrative glitch. Talk about kicking people when they’re down. Does anyone else wonder whose software they’re using? Is the bad PR worth the monetary payback?
